Carmen Luz Mitchell

Carmen Luz Vivar Mitchell, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and true friend, entered into eternal rest on April 26th, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Peru on July 27th, 1937, Carmen was a woman of extraordinary courage and unwavering love. In 1956, she bravely moved to the United States, beginning her new life in Fort Worth, Texas. With the help of the Fort Worth YWCA and the generous Danciger family, she built a foundation that would eventually allow her to bring her beloved family from Lima to join her in Texas a testament to her determination and the importance she placed on family. In 1959, Carmen married her husband, David, celebrating their union with ceremonies both in Peru and in the United States. Together, they raised three sons, and Carmen built a successful career with Alcon Laboratories, a company where her hard work and dedication were deeply valued. Family was always at the heart of Carmen’s life. She treasured every moment with her growing family, especially during the cherished annual summer vacations to South Padre Island. She and David also shared many joyful adventures together, including countless trips to Las Vegas, creating memories that are now treasured by all who knew them. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charlie, her son Michael, her daughter-in-law Beverly, and her forever loving husband of 52 years David. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, survived by her sons, David Carlos and Richard, along with Richard’s wife, Vicki. Carmen’s memory will live on through her grandchildren Bryan, Brad and his wife Maggie, Cameron, Carissa, Carsyn, Mikey, and Alex and her great-grandchildren, Bryan Jr. and Beverly. Carmen’s “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 1st starting at 11:00 a.m. at Amalla Funeral Home, 5210 McCart Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76115. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Fort Worth’s The Center for Transforming Lives, an organization that reflects Carmen’s spirit of compassion and hope. Carmen’s warmth, strength, and endless love touched everyone she met. Her legacy will continue to inspire all those blessed to have known her.
